GREAT PRODUCT!
These are my favorite pencils to use. The led is always sharp and doesn't break. The eraser also completely erases all of the marks that the led makes. There is plenty of led in the pencil, in fact the eraser mostly is empty before the led runs out. I will continue to use these pencils, as a teacher I write everyday and I love them.

Simple, Easy to use, Grip is perfect for a mech
Normally I would opt to get a mechanical pencil that will have space to hold a lot of lead refills and load it up. This came with one lead and it a bit thicker then normal leads and I am loving it. One of the pencils broke at the tip part where you spin it to extend more pencil, but so far no issues with the rest of them.

Great Pencils
It's so nice to have a pencil that are always sharp. These are nice and the eraser works well and doesn't leave marks on the paper like other erasers do. It's a value size box and now we don't have deal with sharpening a pencil, oversharpening it, it breaking, and then doing it again. It's always sharp - yay!

Nice pencils; a little flimsy
These are generally good, straightforward mechanical pencils. The plastic in these seems a little flimsy and they are very easy to break; they splinter when too much pressure is applied (like when you step on them!). Overall, however, they are nice, work well, and are a good option for our family.

Strong Lead!!
My 16 year old daughter uses these in school everyday and loves them. They not only write good, they also erase clean and the lead lasts quite a while, without breaking!! I wish I would have bought these for her years ago!! She doesn't want me to buy anything else, now that she tried these!!

Great quality
My son love these mechanical pencils. The eraser is great and doesn’t smudge on the paper. We also like the fact that you can reload them with more lead. They write really smooth and clean like. I would definitely recommend them if you are a pencil user and don’t want to spend too much.

Long lasting!
I love the long lasting, and adjustable lead. It makes writing smooth and easy to grip. The eraser is very hard and doesn't leave smears. I love the fact that this pencil can easily be stored away in your jacket,or pockets and the pencil doesn't break.

Lots of pencils
I ordered these for my daughter that loves to draw. The pack has lots of pencils to last a long time. The pencils work great and the lead doesn't break easily. They came in a convenient carry box to carry them in. Huge success for the aspiring artists.

Great sturdy pencils!
I like the fact that you do not have to sharpen these which is super convenient. They come in a huge pack which is great because I am homeschooling my two boys. So this pack will last a very long time. They are great in quality and they are durable.

Work great!
I got these pencils a few weeks ago for my son to bring to school. He likes using these over regular pencils because he doesn't have to sharpen them. He also says the lead doesn't break very often and when it does it is not hard to feed out more.

Sharp and Smooth
Lead is smooth and writes nice and dark. Love these for school and work! Very good eraser on top. Inexpensive enough to be disposable, or you can refill. Recommend it for daily use and even for tests. Great product.

I&rsquo;ve been such a fan of these pencils for years, but the newer design that was release a couple years ago (light yellow barrel, hard/light lead, garbage erasers) are VERY disappointing. I&rsquo;ve resorted to buying vintage stock off of eBay. Please bring the old design back!!!!

I agree the new pencils are not the same. They are horrible. Once again a great product bites the dust. I am so disappointed. I have been to every store in town and cannot find the original. Not sure which executive made this decision but they should be gone - like the pencils.

How do you refill this pencil with more lead?

If you do a Google search on the web or Youtube there is a way to refill the Sharpwriter by removing the eraser and twisting the tip until the plastic lead holder comes out and placing a new piece of .7mm lead in the holder then placing it back in the spring and inserting the eraser back in.

I came the site to express my frustration and dissatisfaction with the Papermate Sharpwriter #2 mechanical pencils I've bought in the last year. The lead breaks very easily. The depth of the graphite is a faint and very light gray, bordering on being illegible and nearly invisible. It is NOT the deep, defined, dark gray it once was. While they are cheaper than other mechanical pencils I won't be buying them again. I am just throwing away money when I do so. If anyone an recommend a better option, please do so. Thank you!

The Paper Mate SharpWriter isn&rsquo;t a refillable mechanical pencil&mdash;unlike standard mechanical pencils, it&rsquo;s designed as a disposable twist-feed pencil. It uses a spring-like tip that advances the lead when you twist the eraser end, but it can&rsquo;t be opened or reloaded with new lead. If you're asking about reloading the C1 0.5mm mechanical pencil, that&rsquo;s a different model&mdash;not the SharpWriter. For typical refillable 0.5mm pencils, here&rsquo;s how you usually reload them: 1. Pull off the eraser or top cap. 2. Drop 1&ndash;3 new 0.5mm HB leads into the inner tube. 3. Replace the eraser or cap. 4. Click to advance the lead. If your specific C1 model has a unique mechanism and you're not seeing how it opens, feel free to share the photo&mdash;some minimalist designs hide the refill point in unusual ways.
