They come in handy for my high school son every year. I always buy him a pack! I am an accountant and also love to use them. No worrying about sharpening them and the mess that comes with it. I highly recommend these for any job! The eraser always lasts past the time of the lead too. The lead lasts so much longer than other brands that I have purchased. I don’t have trouble with smudging at all with these.

I don't know how many times the lead breaks on pencils and no one can find a pencil sharpener. These mechanical pencils are great. There is less breakage when it comes to the lead and if it does, no sharpener is needed. Just twist and continue with the assignment. I love the way they write and the erasers, erase clean. One of the best pencils I have ever used.

The color is a traditional yellow and they have a good eraser that gets the pencil off the paper for accidental marks. The 36 count means more pencils for the family to share. Since being in college and having two children in school the need for pencils has increased and this product is great for us!

I love these mechanical pencils, they don't easily break and are retractable, no more worrying about breaking lead in my backpack or inside my pencil case, and the best part is they come in a huge pack so it will take a long time before I run out of them. I especially like the fact that I can erase hard and not be worried about breaking the lead. They’re the only pencil I use now. Highly recommend!

They are very easy to use, just twist the tip to expose the lead and you are ready to go. The lead is thicker than other pencils we have tried and doesn't break easily. The added eraser works great and doesn't leave smudges behind on the paper. Its a number 2 and writes very neat. Great product!

Now with these mechanical pencils, that’s not necessary. They’re way to just twist the bottom and have more lead come out. I just have to teach him to only let a little bit out at a time so they don’t break. These are so much easier than sharpening pencils all the time!

I love that they give you the feel of a real pencil without having to worry about sharpening it. My kids love them. They feel like they are getting to use pens and I don’t have to deal with the hassle of cleaning up the shavings. Overall a win win for all.

PaperMate scores on both those counts as they worked flawlessly. I use these for woodworking projects where I need a fine point and don't want to wrestle with sharpening pencils. The 36 ct. package is a great affordable solution !

If you prefer a more durable mechanical pencil with darker output and stronger lead, Paper Mate&rsquo;s Clearpoint line or other 0.7 mm pencils with stronger grip and lead support might be a better match.

Thanks for your question. The Paper Mate SharpWriter isn&rsquo;t a refillable mechanical pencil&mdash;unlike standard mechanical pencils, it&rsquo;s designed as a disposable twist-feed pencil. It uses a spring-like tip that advances the lead when you twist the eraser end, but it can&rsquo;t be opened or reloaded with new lead.

If you're asking about reloading the C1 0.5mm mechanical pencil, that&rsquo;s a different model&mdash;not the SharpWriter. For typical refillable 0.5mm pencils, here&rsquo;s how you usually reload them:

1. Pull off the eraser or top cap.
2. Drop 1&ndash;3 new 0.5mm HB leads into the inner tube.
3. Replace the eraser or cap.
4. Click to advance the lead.

If your specific C1 model has a unique mechanism and you're not seeing how it opens, feel free to share the photo&mdash;some minimalist designs hide the refill point in unusual ways.
