Rated 5 out of 5 by nelman122 from The mechanical pencil you wish you had As a math teacher I have been pulling away from the mechanical pencils because of the years of breaking lead, jamming led, replacing erasers, and spinning lead when writing. This pencil does not have any of those problems. It has plenty of erasers to refill once yours gets worn down. The eraser also cleanly removes your marks without residue or smudging. The lead holds firm when you write with it and the pencil has a metal shaft that extends to supports the lead so it doesn't break as easily. The grip of the pencil is more natural and comfortable to hold. This pencil has changed my outlook on mechanical pencils.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mainejoanne from Great pencil Paper Mate ADVANCED 0.7MM pencil is a really great pencil. I love the way it flows across the paper so smoothly. The design is sturdy and feels good in my hand. I loved it so much I got another for my highschool daughter and she loves it too. It has extra erasers I can change out whenever it wears out and it looks really cool too. My daughter said all the highschool girls were really jealous of her new pencil and kept trying to swipe it. She said it’s perfect for taking bubble tests and for writing on her homework as it makes clear and vivid marks that are easy to read and easy to erase. The construction of the pencil is durable enough to last a long time. The lead is retractable and there’s a cover for the eraser to keep it safe.

It is nice and sharp with a .7 mm tip it leaves your black pencil marks very bright. It is easy to change once you have used all the lead and even comes with extra erasers that are very easy to change as well. It works so well that our daughter uses at school and it's the only one that she will willingly use. It wrights very smoothly and feels nice in your hand. These will be the only pencil's we will use ever.

Rated 4 out of 5 by witchykitty39 from Nice pencil The Paper Mate Advanced #2 Mechanical Pencil is a really nice pencil. When I want to write, I push on the eraser end of the pencil, and I can push it out to my desired length. If I make a mistake, the eraser will erase it nicely, thanks to the eraser cover that keeps the eraser nice and clean. It also comes with five replacement erasers. The pencil writes nice and smooth. The lead is good and sturdy while I write, no wiggling like with some of the mechanical pencils I used to use years ago. The point seemed hard to break, unless pushed on incredibly hard. It has a nice weight to it, and it's comfortable to hold while writing. The fact that this pencil is refillable, makes it a great value. The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is I wish there was a way to make the lead go back inside the pencil when I'm done writing with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dvice from Excellent, sturdy pencil with erasers The Papermate Advanced 0.7 mm pencil is an excellent, sturdy metal mechanical pencil with a metal case. It includes extra erasers that easily attach to the top (the eraser is covered during use by a small metal cap). Note that the pencil does not have a smooth texture (it has small grooves across the whole surface), so if you like a smooth case you will want to choose a different one.

However, the lead isn't particulary smooth when writing and makes a squeaking sound on some paper surfaces. I've used great, high quality mechanical pencils in the past, but this one isn't the best. Nonetheless, it gets the job done, and I would recommend it to others.

This works well when using and the lead does not seem to break as often as some of the other mechanical pencils do. It writes smooth and fits nicely in your hand not too heavy not too light. Would recommend if looking for a new pencil that is made with better materials and will fit comfortably in your hand.

The lead comes out easily and writes quite nicely. Plenty of extra erasers in their own case are good to have. I'm also an artist and I've used this for some of my thumbnail sketches since the flow of the lead is very smooth. I definitely recommend this pencil!
